the "Dark and Lovely" set (in 4 easy pieces)

Sets & Mixes

Dark & Lovely: Part 1a

The start of this set is decisively dark, fashioned to make a goth/industrial crowd happy. It begins with two tracks to get those with an appetite for the dark swaying and rocking - "the Dead of Night", a bass-heavy b-side from Depeche Mode, and a classic live track from Gary Numan, "Bombers". Then the set takes a turn for the angrier, with Chemlab, Meat Beat Manifesto, and Nitzer Ebb.

Dark & Lovely: Part 1b

This 13-minute piece brings the mix from industrial to trip-hop. It begins with a remix of "Psyche Out" by Meat Beat Manifesto on top of Nitzer Ebb's "Join in the Chant". Then I blend in a progressive-house track from Speedy J, "Oil Zone", and end with a trip-hop track from Visit Venus that samples heavily from "Enter the Dragon".

Dark & Lovely: Part 2

This section of 'Dark & Lovely', clocking in at just under 24 minutes, focuses on making people dance, and blends electroclash with it's electro ancestry. Featuring Air, Prince, Peaches, Chicks on Speed, Swayzak, and Kraftwerk.

Dark & Lovely: Part 3

Here's the last 18 minutes of 'Dark & Lovely'. Check out the full tracklisting here. This selection begins with a same-key, same lyric blend of Portishead and Moloko, and climaxes with a vinyl mash-up that combines the Aphrodite Remix of "The Perfect Drug" by Nine Inch Nails, and 80's standard "Steppin' Out" by Joe Jackson.
