This week I had some serious technical difficulties. The right turntable was unable to play the first half of any record – the needle would just slide along to the middle of every record. I quickly tested out other needles, and I worked with the anti-skating feature and the counter-weight on the tone arm, but nothing worked. So that really limited my choices – suddenly all 12" singles were out, and I had to choose tracks that were in the middle of the albums. Amazingly, I didn’t rely on the CD option, and did some frantic shuffling to make sure the vibe continued despite this new obstacle. The crowd was still happy and dancing, so all’s well that ends well, eh?
